Does a Neighbourhood Plan work alongside the local plan?
Yes, the neighbourhood plan works alongside the local plan. Once 'made' (i.e.. adopted), the neighbourhood plan will form part of the development plan for the area alongside the local plan. The policies of both the neighbourhood plan and local plan must be taken into account in future planning and development decisions. A neighbourhood plan must be in general conformity with the strategic policies of the local plan for the area.
What happens if there is no neighbourhood plan in place?
Planning decisions will be made using the development plan in place for the area, including the Local Plan.
What if decisions have already been approved?
Neighbourhood planning can't change or stop decisions that have already been made from being carried out or implemented. The focus of neighbourhood planning is on influencing future decisions.
How would a neighbourhood plan sit in relation to the Bold Forest Area Action Plan? Can it provide more facilities?
Policies in a neighbourhood plan produced within the area covered by the Bold Forest Area Action Plan (AAP) would need to be in general conformity with the strategic policies in the AAP. A neighbourhood plan can go beyond the provisions of the AAP, where appropriate and justified, to provide more facilities.
