Youth Service programmes
Introduction
St Helens Borough Council's Youth Service are passionate about working with young people to achieve their full potential.
The innovative service delivers a variety of programmes and interventions to support the learning, well-being and personal development of young people.
The Youth Service works with schools to increase attendance and re-engage pupils in school and the wider community.
The programmes and interventions are suitable for young people aged between 5 and 19 years old and up to 25 for young people with additional needs.
Re-energise programme
Aimed at pupils who may be struggling to re-engage in education or are at risk of disengaging.
Group activities and one-to-one support designed to improve pupil confidence, self-esteem and social relationships, with an emphasis upon raising aspirations to support future ambitions. From this programme, pupils will be able to understand the importance that education and positive relationships has in supporting future plans and reaching their full potential.
Each programme runs for six weeks, including one day of adventurous outdoor education and a follow up telephone, online or face to face support session each week. We can provide longer programmes for pupils who need that extra support.
Costs: £2,635 for 8 pupils
Individualised support
Aimed at pupils who are struggling to return to school and/or experiencing difficulties with their behaviour that creates barriers towards learning.
One-to-one support for young people over the summer and beyond to help them return to education in September and/or to prevent exclusion. This will include support with overcoming fears, confidence and self-esteem building, coping and well-being strategies, but tailored to the needs of the individual child.
We recommend at least one individual session, one group work session and a follow up call each week. However, we can also offer a weekly one-to-one support session.
Costs: one-to-one support & group work - £91 per week per pupil
One-to-one support only - £35 per week per pupil
10% discount when support packages are purchased for more than 6 pupils.
Outdoor activities and problem solving

Self-esteem, confidence and resillience-building programme
This programme is designed to support and educate pupils on the best ways to manage their mental health and well-being.
This will be delivered as a mixture of classroom-based interventions and physical activity. Intervention sessions are structured around AQA Unit Awards based on self-esteem, healthy lifestyles and mental health awareness. The physical activities can include 5-a-side football, problem-solving games, tennis and mindfulness activities.
