What goes in my green bin?
Did you know when your garden waste is recycled it is transformed into nutrient rich soil conditioner. This can then be used in a range of different ways, in agriculture, as nitrogen rich multi- purpose compost and land reclamation.
You can put these items in your green bin:
- Grass cuttings/leaves
- Flowers/plants/weeds
- Privet/hedge clippings
- Small branches and twigs
Please do not put these items in your green bin; it will be contaminated and will not be emptied:
- Cardboard (this goes in your green bag)
- Food waste (this goes in your food caddy)
- Plastic (this goes in your white bag)
- Soil/rubble (please take to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre)
- Straw/hay/pet bedding (please put in your brown bin (bagged) or take to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre)
- Compostable bags (put in your brown bin, or a compost heap in your garden)
