Order a bin & recycling containers

People living in St Helens Borough can order bins and recycling containers.

Recycling containers are free of charge. There is a delivery and administration charge of £34.50 for all new or replacement brown or green bins.

During collection, if a bin has damaged wheels, axle, lid or a split body this is classed as general wear and tear and there will be a charge to pay for a replacement bin. We do not offer the option to repair damaged brown and green wheeled bins.

If your brown or green bin falls into the back of the collection vehicle we will log the issue on our in-cab computer system and automatically order you a free replacement bin.

Additional recycling containers and bags

Residents with regular extra recycling should request an additional bag or box if they can store one. Additional recycling containers and bags can be presented up to a maximum of 4 of each type.

Order your containers and bins

There are two ways you can place your order for all your items. You can order online on the link below, or ring our Contact Centre on 01744 676789.

We do not take your old bags away when you order new ones, please dispose of these yourself, either by putting them in your brown bin, or taking them to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

You can pick up replacement bags at the Town Hall hub Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and any library.

You can also check what goes in what bin, which will give you information to make sure you put the correct items in your containers. Sometimes the wrong thing ends up in the incorrect container; this will contaminate it, and can result in your recycling not being taken on your collection day.

Brown bins

You can order your brown bin via the link above or through the Contact Centre on 01744 676789; you will get a date for delivery. While waiting for a delivery of a brown bin, please ensure any rubbish is securely tied in a bin bag with a label attached to say you are awaiting delivery of your bin. Each household/property is only entitled to one brown bin as per policy.

By taking your bin back to your property as soon as possible after collection can help prevent it from being stolen or vandalised.

In certain circumstances an additional bin may be provided if you meet our criteria. Request an additional brown bin

Outside caddy with liner

Food caddy bags

To obtain replacement food caddy bags, please tie a food bag to the handle of the kerbside caddy before putting it out for collection and the crew will leave a roll of bags. Our crews can sometimes run out of bags when they are out on their rounds, this is because there is only a small amount of storage space for them on the vehicle.

As an alternative, you can use your own liner or bag, or pick some up from the Town Hall ground floor reception, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Our libraries also stock them.
