St Helens Town Centre regeneration masterplan - Taxi Ranks

St Helens Borough Council and the English Cities Fund (ECF) are bringing forward ambitious plans to transform St Helens town centre via a once-in-a-lifetime regeneration masterplan. This includes a step change in the town's commercial and retail offer, including a new Market Hall, a 120- bedroom globally branded hotel, 64 new homes, a 75,000 sq ft office and 11,000 sq ft of modern retail space. Alongside this, new multi-modal transport interchange on the site of the town's existing bus station - equipping St Helens with a well-connected, modern public transport system.

A consultation was undertaken as part of the first phase of a wider interim movement and parking strategy for the town centre, as a new temporary bus hub will be created on Chalon Way West to ensure travel around the town centre remains seamless when construction begins.

New and expanded Taxi Ranks

We are making some changes to the location of taxi ranks in the town centre to ensure they remain convenient and close to areas of high footfall when construction work begins on the town centre regeneration. 

As of 22nd July 2024, existing taxi ranks on Hall St, Bridge St and Chalon Way West will no longer be operating. These will be replaced with a range of new and expanded ranks at locations across the town centre.
