Recycling centres and Bring Banks

Bring Banks

There are numerous recycling bring bank sites throughout the Borough that St Helens Borough Council are responsible for. Most of these are at supermarkets, social clubs, pubs and community centres. You can recycle your glass bottles and textiles here.

To find your local site go to the Recycle Now website and enter your postcode.

See our textiles page for your clothes and shoes.

Household Waste Recycling Centres

Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority operate the Household Waste Recycling Centres in the borough.

HWRCs accept a range of household materials for recycling, from batteries, cans and cardboard, through to garden clippings, glass bottles and wood. They also accept bulky items such as furniture and white goods (e.g. fridges and freezers).

Make a van/trailer booking

An appointment system is in place at all Merseyside's Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) for people using commercial-type vehicles such as vans or trailers between 2-3 metres (external box dimensions).

Making an appointment is easy to do and is free of charge. Residents using a van of any size or a large trailer are allowed a maximum of 12 visits over the year to recycle and dispose of household waste (this includes green and garden waste).

Please note: residents using a standard car do NOT need to make a booking to use the Recycling Centres unless you intend to visit with a trailer between 2-3 metres (external box dimensions) in length.

Book online or call 07774 787340 or 07774 787370.
