Looking after children and young people
The Healthy Child Programme in St Helens, which includes health visiting, school nursing and an 'Enhancing Families' team (formerly Family Nurse Partnership), is now being provided by Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. The services are part of a new 0-19+ health and wellbeing service.
Health visiting
The health visiting service in St Helens delivers the Healthy Child Programme to all parents and families of pre-school children. The team includes health visitors, community health nurses and nursery nurses. They are specialists in child health and development and provide a range of information, support and advice to ensure families are fully supported to give their children the best possible start in life.

School nursing
The school nursing service in St Helens supports children and young people aged 5-19 in primary and secondary schools and home-educated children, as well as their families and carers. Support is also provided to schools and alternative education providers - every school has a named school nurse. The service is led by specialist public health nurses, qualified nurses and screeners, and works in partnership with schools and other professionals to keep children healthy, happy and safe.
