The Dream

The Dream, which stands 20 metres high, an imposing permanent sculpture by artist Jaume Plensa, can be viewed at Sutton Manor Community Woodland. Installed in 2009, it sits on the site of a former colliery, reflecting on the heritage of the location. It represents a girl with closed eyes, an emblem of hope for what the future may bring and this sits on a giant circular plinth which resembles a miner's tally. These were small circular chips that a miner carried as means of identification and were used to record the number of miners down a shaft on any one shift.

There are plenty of established walks to do around the woodlands. There are also picnic tables for you to sit and have your lunch and benches for you to take in the views. The Dream is south facing.
